  I read it in early 2004. I remember finishing it one sunday morning when my wife and 2 children were at the kingdom hall. I was going through my own crisis...I sat and cried my eyes out.

  It was like being betrayed by your best friend....I didnt want to believe it...but there it was in black and white..written in such a calm, sincere, non-vengeful manner, I had no reason to believe it was anything other than a truthful expose of the workings of the Gov. body.

  I TRUSTED these people....these proud, arrogant men..who were arbitrarily messing up peoples lives with no hint of remorse afterward when they changed their ideas.

  I spent 40 years in the Org, some of that time as an elder...and I sincerely tried to do everything with the right motives...What can I say...Thank you Ray Franz and all who contribute on here to helping others who are still coping with the aftermath of the Borg.

  THE MOTIVES OF GOOD JWS WHO POST ON THIS SITE

  while i think it's perfectly okay, i do wonder what motivates jws to post here and especially to also express views critical of ex-jws.

  is it the freudian notion of "projection": the jw who denounces something in others that he or she is also guilty of?

  hence, if a jw clearly denounces an apostate's faults, it must mean the jw is really against apostasy when it might be something he or she struggles with.

  10 When a fellow human tells us, 'Do not read this' or, 'Do not listen to that,' we may be tempted to ignore his advice. But remember, in this case Jehovah is the One who tells us in his Word what to do. And what does he say about apostates? "Avoid them " (Romans 16:17, 18); "quit mixing in company with" them (1 Corinthians 5:11); and "never receive [them] into your homes or say a greeting to [them]" (2 John 9, 10). These are emphatic words, clear directions. If, out of curiosity, we were to read the literature of a known apostate, would that not be the same as inviting this enemy of true worship right into our home to sit down with us and relate his apostate ideas?

  In Watchtower speak...."Can you really be serving Jehovah wholesouled while associating with apostates?" Evidently not.

  So, it is true that while nobody on here has the right to tell you not to visit or post, are you not doing what Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden did....sticking two fingers up at Jehovah and telling him YOU can decide whats best for you....

  What a pity all your credentials as a faithful Witness are negated by your disobedience in posting on this site. How do you think Jehovah feels about someone who is repeatedly told to keep away from apostates and apostate material and yet repeatedly associates with the same???

  This subject is the theme of 'Captives of a Concept', by Don Cameron.

  It is very logical and shows how Jesus would have found an organization with as many 'false' beliefs ( false from the standpoint of the modern day Witness beliefs ) as any other 'Christian' religion, and that he would never have chosen them as his true servants IF he had been looking in 1919.

  Not good credentials for the 'True Religion'.

  Looking for an Awake..can you help?

  hi...can someone post me a couple of paras from awake 1st of mar 2004....its the first study article and its paras 6 and 7...the subject matter is about christs return (i believe).

  thanks...i only have the cd rom to 2001...... oh..hold on...is it the first article if it has an a after it in the days text?

  if not, its the second article... just to confuse you....

  Thank you ...it was the Watchtower of course...senior moment...I was only in for 40 years..LOL.

  This is the correct article...It contains another barefaced lie by the org.

  The ten virgins remind us of anointed Christians before 1914. They had calculated that the bridegroom, Jesus Christ, was about to make an appearance. Hence, they "went out" to meet him, boldly preaching that "the appointed times of the nations" would end in 1914.—Luke 21:24.

  They had 'calculated' no such thing...they believed he had already arrived in 1874....or was that 1873? Why didnt they go out to meet him in 1874? Surely when Christ takes up Kingdom power, that is when the appointed times of the nations end?

  Our Lord, the appointed King, is now present, since October 1874.

  *** The Time Is at Hand, page ii, (forward) 1916 ***

  The Bible chronology herein presented shows that the six great 1000 year days beginning with Adam are ended, and that the great 7th Day, the 1000 years of Christ's Reign, began in 1873.

  but wait a minute....surely the closest relationship...between 'loved ones' is man and wife?

  and reading the wt literature, they are pretty careful not to mention that relationship in the resurrection discussion, because of course they cant answer the question as to whether husbands and wives will be reunited in the resurrection...because of that damn scripture which says about resurrected ones not marrying or being given in marriage.. so, they wrap it up in the broad terminology of bring able to be 'reunited with your loved ones' and hope nobody notices that they never refer to the marital relationship.

  Same is happening near us...A big Chinese group near the University. How long will it take them to witness to a fifth of the worlds population, when and if they go back home?

  They also had a Kurdish group from the asylum seekers who came to our city...Not one of them became a Witness...they have all disappeared into the sunset with plenty of free English lessons tucked under their belt.
